Donna says, “This pattern was inspired by my fabulous yoga teacher who encourages us to keep warm during the relaxation session at the end of each class to preserve the ‘prana’ (energy) we have collected.”

What is Filet Crochet?

Filet crochet is a beautifully versatile technique that is great for both beginners and seasoned crocheters. Using just basic stitches, typically double crochet and chain spaces, filet crochet creates open and filled mesh patterns that form stunning designs, from delicate florals to bold geometric motifs. It’s a wonderful way to add a vintage touch to modern projects like wall hangings, cushions, or even garments. Pattern Notes

This pattern uses UK terminology but switchable to US terms below.
Each pattern repeat is inside brackets.
Any number outside the brackets is only done at the beginning and end of each row. Each dash (-) represents a ch1 space (ch1, miss a stitch, tr)
At the end of each row, turn and ch2 (this counts as the first treble of each row)

Here you can quickly switch between UK and US crochet terms. This will make following the pattern easier as all terms will be converted to your preferred version.

Terms & Abbreviations

Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook

Treble Crochet (tr): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) twice.

Half Treble Crochet(s): htr(s):Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loops.

Double Crochet (dc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

Slip Stitch (ss): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through stitch and loop on hook

Final corner, 1dc, ch1 then sl into the top of the first ch2
Finish off yarn and sew in ends

Round 3 (RS)
Using Yarn C, start in the first treble of any set from Round 2, ch2 (counts as the first dc of a set)
Repeat (dc, htr, tr, tr, htr, dc) around all edges
In each corner, there should be 1tr (the first tr of a set), ch1, 1tr (the second tr of a set)
At the final stitch, 1htr then sl into the top of the first ch2
Finish off yarn and sew in ends

Round 4 (WS)
Using Yarn D, start in any corner and ch2 (counts as 1dc)
1dc around all edges
In each corner, there should be 1dc, ch2, 1dc
At the final corner, 1dc, ch1 then sl into the top of the first ch2
